On board, you will be guided to your cabin and an introduction to the ship and its crew will be presented to you. We will start our journey with navigation towards My Tho through the Cho Gao canal with its bustling river scenes. Lunch on board during navigation. Arrival at My Tho in the early afternoon. In My Tho, visit of the pagoda Vinh Trang, of tropical orchards, bee farm and a candy factory. You will be able to have a tasting of those local products. The day will end by boarding smaller boats and explore the arroyos and finally arrive on the Mekong. Back to the boat for the dinner while we will start our navigation towards Sa Dec.
Early departure to visit the Kien An Chung pagoda, which has a colorful history (it has served as a prison before) and is once again family owned today, followed by the visit of the school and the local market of Sa Dec. Sa dec, in the province of Dong Thap is the “Garden of Cochinchine”, a little known little city on the delta where the French writer Margerite Duras lived until her teens. Her mother was running a girls school, still to be seen. Some remaining colonial houses, including the “Maison du Chinois” from her novel “L’Amant” are part of the charm of the city. Visit of the house and we will enjoy our lunch there. Back on the boat to start our navigation to Can Tho. Dinner on board.
Early departure on local small boats to visit the floating market and An Binh fish market. Take a drive to Binh Thuy Ancient House where the famous film “L’Amant” had been shot, take a walk along the streets where you will be able to feel deeply the daily life of local people. Back on board for lunch and navigation towards Long Xuyen. Visit of a crocodile farm, tropical orchards, have a taste of those fruits in the garden before heading to an incense handicraft village. You will be shown how they traditionally make the incense. We will return on board the vessel for our dinner and navigation towards the Cambodian border.
After crossing the border, we will navigate towards Phnom Penh. We will arrive in Phnom Penh on the middle of the afternoon. Then you will be able to take a first discovery tour of the city by yourselves.Dinner will be served on board.
Morning: the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda, and the National Museum, which remarkable collections of Khmer arts and crafts are travelling across the world. Back on boat for lunch before your afternoon excursions. In the afternoon, visit of the Museum of the Genocide and the Russian Market for shopping. Dinner on board with, as an appetizer, Apsara dances.
Superb little island with craftsmen whose trades have not change for centuries. In the morning, visit the island, its school and its craftsmen workshops. Then we will get back to the boat for navigation to Kampong Tralach where you will have lunch with the inhabitant. After your lunch, stroll through the paddy fields to the beautiful Vihara of Kampong Leu pagoda. Dinner on board
Kampong Chhnang, the busy little harbor on the Tonle Sap gets its name from the pottery workshops. Their production is sold throughout Cambodia. A small local boat will come get you and you will visit the pottery workshops, a place where sugar cane is made and also local alcohol. Stroll along the local market. Back on board for navigation towards Chnok Tru. Arrival around 18h30. Dinner on board.
Visit of the floating village of Chnok Tru on small boats. Chnok Tru is a seldom visited village where Vietnamese originated fishermen live in complete autarky. Back on the boat for lunch and the beginning of the crossing of the Tonle Sap Lake. The Tonle Sap, main Lake of Cambodia, with waters rising from 2 to 11 meters and a surface quadrupled between August and January. Crossing of the lake and easy life on board until arrival to the Siem Reap pier around 17h30. Transfer to the city center. According to the water level, the crossing will be by speed boat or bus.
