Cat Ba National Park is located in Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city. The national park is centred on Cat Ba island, a 28,500 ha island, which lies 20 km due east of Hai Phong city and immediately to the west of Halong bay. The national park also incorporates some of the small islands and marine waters situated to the east of Cat Ba island.

Tourism Activities
Forest Ecotourism
Tourist who come to Cat Ba national park can choose from tourist routes with different forest ecosystems to explore. They can explore the plants and the animals of the different forest types as the Old-growth forest, mangroves, flooded forests on limestone or Kim Giao forest .. etc.. The long routes (tour time 4-8h: walking, climbing) are: Ao Ech - Viet Hai; May Bau - Hang Quan Y, Kim Giao - Me Con - Tung Di. The short routes (2-3 h tour: motorcycles, bicycles, cars and walking, hiking) are: Kim Giao Forest - Ngu Lam Peak, Route Environmental Education, Dong Trung Trang - Hang Uy Ban.

Marine Ecotourism
Cat Ba National Park is promoting investment in the development of marine ecotourism to serve tourists enjoy exploring the vast marine resources. Come Cat Ba, visitors can choose the type of sea travel as visiting scenic Lan Ha Bay, Van Boi, Viet Hai, Van Ta, Tra Bau ... rowing kayark to discover the bay ecosystems. View coral diving, fishing, swimming or enjoying water sports activities. The sea tours from time 2-6 h.

Explore grottoes and caves
Cat Ba Island is formed by tectonic movement of the earth's crust and raised and lowered sea millions of years ago. According to geologists, the Cat Ba archipelago has the Kato terrain (limestone), with many caves and fissures. In the park, there are many unique caves, annually attracting thousands of visitors as the Trung Trang grotto, Uy Ban cave, Thien Long grotto.

Observe primates, bird watching
The park has endemic primates Cat Ba Langur (Golden-headed langur). Visitors do not have many opportunities to observe them as they are now endangered and priority species for conservation, but visitors can easily view other primates like Yellow monkey, Macaque at Cat Dua island or other areas as Eo Bua, Dong Co, Me Con .... Cat Ba has 160 species of bird of 46 families and 16 orders (Typical: Great Hornbill, Oriental Pied Hornbill, Great Cormorant ... species in the World Red Book). By Cat Ba, visitors can not see the forest birds, waterfowl settlement on the island but also migratory birds.

Wildlife night-spotting
For visitors like to observe, learn or explore reptiles, amphibians, insects or operate some nocturnal animals then it is ideal for the forest in the evening. Under the dark and mysterious sounds of the jungle are incredibly lively activity of the biological world. According to preliminary results of statistical studies, the Cat Ba National Park has 53 species of mammals, 45 species of reptiles, 21 species of amphibians, 274 species of insects. Route for watching animal in night: Mau Bau - Ao Ech (2-6pm).

Swimming, fishing, coral viewing
